I’m one of those people who always has way too many tabs open – on my computer, on my phone, on my iPad, just everywhere.
This is usually a byproduct of research for the continuing education classes I teach. In those cases, you want to see a lot of studies to really get and give the best version of the current state of knowledge.
One of my projects this year has been to take all those open tabs. And put them… somewhere. And this year they ended up here.
turning too many tabs into website resources
A couple of years ago, this process turned into a whole new project, the Naturopathic Climate Alliance. Someday that will have its own website, but now it’s in a corner of one of mine. And I continue adding links there as I find them.
But in 2025 I’ve done several presentations, pocasts and continuing education classes for National University of Natural Medicine and Psychiatry Redefined — which means hundreds of open tabs. So the current project has been creating a web page of these links focusing on herbal medicines.
curated herbal research links
A lot of the links focus on research about herbs and mental health, which makes sense given the courses I’ve been teaching. But just last weekend I got curious about a couple of herbs that weren’t already on the page and went down some rabbit holes. As one does.
All of which is to say, this is a resource for you. The coverage is not exhaustive. You’ll still get way more out of Eric Yarnell‘s BotMed.Rocks or any and all of Jill Stansbury‘s amazing formulary books (for instance this one, focused on herbal formulas for neurology, psychiatry and pain.)
But if you’re curious about research behind some commonly used herbal medicines, I have curated some links for you.
Again, I did this just to close tabs on my computer. But it would be awesome if my effort offered value to others, so I wanted you to know about it.
P.S. If you’re a naturopathic doctor or herbalist, you likely know lots of sources for herbal products. But if you are one of the people on this list who is not, or you just haven’t dug into these resources in a while, I also made a list of herbal sources. I have no current affiliations with any of them. And if you have suggestions of excellent additions, please let me know!
